My interest in wine began while working as a server in an upscale restaurant while in college. Although I spent the next decade and a half at a regular “day job”, I continued learning more about wine, and frequently worked weekends at a catering company to stay close to the service industry. In 2008 I formed a women’s wine education group called “The Cellar Belles”, in Katy, TX, which met monthly and swelled to 40 members with a waiting list. I ran it from 2008-2013, and began studying at The Texas Wine School at that time. I have obtained a WSET Level 3 Advanced Certification with Distinction, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) from the Society of Wine Educators, French Wine Scholar from the Wine Scholar Guild, and recently achieved the Certificate of Mastery in Champagne from the Wine Scholar Guild. I am currently continuing Master Classes in Bordeaux and Alsace, also with the Wine Scholar Guild. I have served as a judge for the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show International Wine Competition since 2012. I write a column called “Wine Smarts” for a small local Houston Magazine, and have been teaching for the Texas Wine School since 2016.
